"Lack luster purchases lead straight to crowded, nonsensical closets and insufficient funds."

Truer words have never been spoken. I never thought I would be wearing an outfit laden with so many designer names, but thanks to my new clothes resolution (and some serious internet stalking/ bargain hunting) I've been able to save up the dosh for some things I've really wanted.

I've had these jeans for such a long time and it's disappointing that they're only appearing on the blog now. When I saw them on The New Guard for 70% off I clicked them home... like ASAP.... like heart palpitations etc etc.....

This is the millionth post featuring this bag and these shoes.... and for that I'm sorry. Actually, no I'm kind of not ;) I simply love both pieces and I'm enjoying wearing them to death... after all, isn't that what the "new clothes resolution" was all about anyway? I'm enjoying finding new ways to wear these shoes, and I was so inspired by the Alexander Wang Fall 2012 RTW collection, that I just couldn't help but spruce them up with some skanky ol' fishnets. These particular fishnets are just oh-so-barely there, just like the shoes! What a perfect match. I originally bought these pants for work to replace the ones I lost (seriously, how the hell do you lose a pair of pants???), but decided to wear them in a casual outfit before they get basketballer's sweat and swimmer's chlorinated water all over them. Lately I've been dressing slightly more sophisticated and "grown up" than what I normally would.... and I like it!

red-orange-red-orange red-orange.....

(Shoes: 3.1 Phillip Lim "Nina". Sunglasses: Asos. Bag: Alexander Wang "Kirsten" satchel. Dress: Asos)

This dress has helped me whisk through every social occasion over the last couple of weeks. From breakfast with the boy, to catch up drinks at a girlfriend's house, to dinner at The Garden with friends. And let me just say that I am obsessed with this orange-red shade lately (these jeans have had a number of appearances on the blog already).

If you follow us (or should I say ME) on Instagram, you would have seen these sunglasses make their debut already. If you are connected to the Instagram machine via the Internet machine via your iPhone machine, you can follow away!! Typey-type @fickle_sense to find me..... and don't be a stranger. Say hi!!!

The bag and shoes were bought during the end of year sales as part of my "new clothes resolution" (you've already seen a little of the shoes here) - I still can't bring myself to pay full price, but I'm getting there. I'm officially addicted to good quality accessories! I haven't bought anything from a chain store in a loooooong time - I love exhausting my current pieces and finding new ways to wear them. I had actually bought a pair of boots in a similar colour. In my blog post I had noted:

"I should stop kidding myself with all these fancy shmancy colour variations. I do love my black."

However I think I was just so wrong! It was the quality that stopped me wearing them. How do I know this? Because I wear my new Friend of Mine boots with everything!- Are you joining me in the "new clothes resolution", dear readers? Please tell us how it's going!

I don't know why but wherever I go, I want to look like I'm carrying my lunch.
These clutches are all handmade from a single piece of real leather.
And for our Aussie readers - guess what? The shipping to Australia is cheap as chips.
I know, I know... I let out a sigh of relief when I found out too.

"Witchery x Proenza Schouler"

(Dress: Shopcuffs. Bag: Witchery. Shoes: Shoebox. Jacket: Asos. Sunglasses: Strongbow?)

I wore this to a friend's birthday last Sunday at the pub. This is my go-to outfit combo, almost to the point of it becoming my uniform. Short dress + boots + leather jacket + a shit load of rings + a necklace or two.

My Forever New sunnies are stranded on my friend's boat so I adopted these sunnies. They came free with a six-pack of Strongbow. Apart from the fact that they have STRONGBOW written on the side in white, I like them.

This is Witchery's blatant copy of the PS1. I love the dusty/taupe colour so I borrowed it from mum. I don't understand how Witchery is allowed to produce such a blatant copy. But hey, I'm still sporting it on the crook of my elbow so I'm not one to talk.

Images via About a Girl

I love it when I find an Australian site that tries something a little bit "out there". About a Girl has always had their own line called "About a Girl Collection", amongst other popular labels such as MinkPink, All About Eve, Sunnygirl, Stylestalker and the list continues. Usually their line has the more "expected" pieces such as maxi dresses, jersey tops, printed harem pants etc etc.

So I was surprised to find these real leather/cow fur accessories! I don't know how keen I would be to rock them out myself (the last two satchels have caught my eye a little), but I think the girls over at About a Girl have a good thing going.

Speaking of animal accessories on Aussie online stores, I also came across these babies at MarketHQ, another Aussie online store.

(Trench coat: Lovely Girl. Dress: Unknown. Necklace: Fashionology and Chains of Love. Boots: Lila Verne. Bag: Jim Thompson)

For this outfit, I had the pleasure of being shot by mahaila for the first time! Shooting together was a breeze and heaps of fun. What do you guys think of the results? :)

Robert bought these boots for my 21st birthday over a year ago. I chose them back when OTK boots were difficult to find (especially in lil ol' Perth) so they are even more special.  Not the most comfortable shoes in the world, but I wanted a timeless style so that I could wear them forever... so that meant no platforms :( and comfort was inevitably sacrificed.

(Silk shirt: Topshop. Jeans: Sportsgirl DIY ripped. Shoes: Asos. Bag: Guess)

I wore this when Robert and I went out for coffee together. These shoes make the weirdest "clopping" sound when I walk... I think it makes them kind of special. These jeans suffered the same fate as the jeans I posted here. They got the cheese-grater treatment. I think it stops them looking so.... clean.

Robert and I had dinner at Jus Burgers in Leederville last night. Delicious gourmet burgers with real onion rings. So bloody good.

This nebula top was an impulse buy from Asos... I wasn't sure how much wear I would get out of it (seeing as I'm not usually one for digital prints as I find they can 'swamp' me) but now I'm convinced I'll be wearing it throughout the summer. It gives that extra kick of grunge to an outfit.

P.S. My half of Challenge Number 2 is coming up........... I'm taking a crack at the DIY turban/headband that mahaila created a couple of posts ago.... let's see how successful I am. Because let's be honest, if I can do it, anybody can.
